- Six out of every ten children experience a major death
before they are out of high school.
- Approximately 1.5 million children will have one or both
of their parents die before reaching age 18.
- At any given time in the average classroom, there are
at least two (2) children who are grieving the death of
someone they loved. The most common death is that of a
grandparent or great grandparent.
- Unresolved childhood grief can prompt misbehavior, poor
school performance, foster juvenile delinquency and severely
affect social relationships later in the child's life as
he/she enters into adulthood.
